This experience will last a total of approx. 60 minutes, with approx. 30 minutes spent in the air. (We don't compromise on your time in the air. When comparing us with others, check the small print and the time actually spent in the air.)
Arrive on the day for your helicopter experience ride. You will be greeted by your Instructor and director of the company who will offer you a cup of coffee/tea before your informal 30 minute brief on how to fly the helicopter. Partners/friends can also listen in on the briefing if they so wish. After the briefing you are escorted to your helicopter (the 4 seat Robinson R44) by your instructor. Afer pre-flight checks and start-up, you are ready for taxi. At Bristol International we integrate with EasyJet Airbus and RyanAir Boeing 737's for departure. You will usually fly out towards Clifton Suspension Bridge where you can see the Bristol city harbour and the SS Great Britain, up the river Avon towards the Second Severn Crossing and the Old Severn Bridge. If you live locally you can even fly over your house!Your instructor, shortly after departure, will show you how each of the controls work and then you get your chance to fly the helicopter! If you request it, your instructor will show you some of the exercises for the PPL en-route back to Bristol. We usually fly down the picturesque Severn estuary via Clevedon and Weston Super Mare before returning to Bristol Airport. You will 'follow through' on the controls as your instruction takes you in for landing. After landing, your instructor will give you between 5 and 10 munutes to practice hovering where you find how sensitive helicopters are to control. After shut down, you are presented with a Trial Lesson Certificate of your flight to remember the experience. To celebrate afterwards you can have a drink with family and friends in our fully licensed Bar. We aim to make you flight an informal and exciting experience. If you are then interested in perhaps starting your helicopter Pilots licence, we can discuss all the is involved and help you obtain your goal.
